2009-06-22 SEVIR Senior volunteers in interest representations The project The main objectives of SEVIR is the training of senior volunteers to represent their peers in public life. Furthermore, it is a training programme to improve their skills for active and effective participation in the political process. Partner of the SEVIR project is Kifas information on other partners can be found here Kifas As Member of the AKSB (Federation of Catholic-Social Formation Centres in Germany) the Institute of the Catholic Worker's Movement for Continuing Education and Applied Social Ethics (Kifas) offers seminars, consulting, trainings, process consulting and project development in a various number of areas of expertise. Background The active citizenship of senior citizens in public life is an invaluable resource for democracy in European countries. However, there are some barriers to senior citizens representing their peers at local and regional levels. Results of the project SEVIR will develop and enhance this voluntary active citizenship. Our project will deliver an educational and training programme to improve the skills of senior citizens and to enable them to participate actively in societal decision-making processes.
