Commission adopts Communication on Volunteering |

Two days ago, the European Commission presented plans to further improve recognistion and promotion of volunteering in the EU. The communication is a political achievement of the running European Year of Volunteering 2011. The Commission identified seven obstacles to volunteering differing from each member state. Among them is the lack of a clear legal framework, the lack of national strategies and recognition and insufficient data on volunteering. |

2011-09-21  On 20 September the Youth Intergroup of the European Parliament invited stakeholders to a public hearing on the future of the European Youth Portal. The European Commission is currently revising the European Youth Portal, an online information database for young people looking for information on living and working in Europe. The Youth Intergroup organised two panels dealing with the expectations of the different actors and the possibilities and limitations of a revised European Youth Portal.

Im Zentrum der Diskussion, die von der Ständigen Vertretung der Bundesrepublik Deutschland bei der EU organisiert wurde, stand die Zukunft des Programms Jugend in Aktion.

2011-09-01 The European Commission has proposed to make 2013 the "European Year of Citizens". Against the background of the 20th anniversary of the of the establishment of Union citizenship in the Maastricht Treaty the Commission is answering the European Parliament´s call for such a year. |
