Youth Indicators as an evidence based instrument for Youth policy related areas have been under discussion and progress for the last year. An open meeting held in the commission by the Directorate-General Education and Culture on Youth Indicators, current and future work in the field gave an overview of the main aim of indicators. In the context of the meeting DG deputies presented their results on the final report on Youth Indicators.

In the context of the flagship initiative “Youth on the Move” the European Commission announced to launch a “Youth on the Move card”. Preparing the YoM card, the Commission asks for your opinion on Youth cards and your experiences with the existing instruments (e.g. Youthpass).

Youth directors from 15 member states addressed a letter to the General Director “Education and Culture” Jan Truszczynski in which they call for the continuation of the “Youth in Action” programme. Lutz Stroppe, General Director in the Youth department of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth also signed the letter.

Die diesjährige AKSB Fachkonferenz „Internationale Arbeit 2011“ fand vom 11. bis 13.04.2011 in Brüssel statt. Insgesamt 15 Teilnehmer aus den Einrichtungen der AKSB trafen sich, um sowohl Vorträge zu Themen wie Internationale Jugendarbeit, aktuellen Thematiken wie Jugend in Aktion und zum Europäischen Jahr der Freiwilligentätigkeit zu hören. Im Rahmen der Konferenz hatten die Teilnehmer auch ausreichend Gelegenheit, sich mit Gesprächspartnern der europäischen Institutionen zur zukünftigen Jugend- und Bildungspolitik der EU auszutauschen.
